THE BATTLE IS ON!

WHAT IS THE BATTLE OF THE BOOKS?
Battle of the Books is a book-based trivia tournament for EMS students Year 4-12. It gets students excited about reading in a friendly, competitive environment. Each team of 3-4persons will compete by answering questions based on the books from their respective division.

 WHO CAN BE ON THE BATTLE OF THE BOOKS TEAM?
Anyone from Year 4 who reads at Level N to P
Anyone from Year 5 and 6 who reads at Level P to T
Anyone from Year 7-12 who reads at Level S-Z
At the battle, each team MUST have 3-4  members to compete.
WHY PARTICIPATE IN BATTLE OF THE BOOKS?
It encourages a love of reading and lifelong learning.
It teaches students how to work together successfully as part of a team, the reward for preparation, how to win gracefully and lose elegantly.
The winning team libraries will get trophies to display for a year until the next battle. The top 2 teams will get voucher from Virgin Megastore and a certificate!

EMS Doha BoB: March 24-28, 2019 (Primary Library)
EMS District Championship (Doha, Al Khor, Al Wakra): April 3, 2019 (EMS Doha Library)

Posters for Elementary (Year 4) and Primary Divisions (Year 5&6)  will be up on Sunday. Ms. May will also discuss more about it among Primary students next week during library period. 

Secondary Division (Year 7-12) will be launched after winter break as we are still waiting for the books to arrive.

Library Hours
Primary Library 
6:45-7:05am / 1st break / 1:45-2:20pm (Sun.-Wed.)
6:45-7:05am / Break / 12:30-1:00pm (Thurs.)

Lesson 1 is closed for maintenance and Lesson 4 is alloted to KG classes. Small group of students (5 students max.) each with library pass are allowed during Lesson 4.

6:45-7:05am / 1st & 2nd break / 1:45-2:20pm (Sun.-Wed.)
6:45-7:05 am / Break (Thurs.)  *no after school

Check out all the pictures HERE Battle of the Books The Local Battle of the Books has successfully ended this week. We are happy that students accomplished much from the experience and that they also had fun . I cannot thank the Primary teachers enough for encouraging their students to participate and keeping them focused for the months leading up to the competition.  Special thanks to Ms. Annie, Mr. Lewis, Mr. John for taking time out of your busy schedule to read questions and Ms. Zoobia. Ms. Laurie and Ms. Annie for bringing your classes to help cheer the Elementary finalists, as well as Ms. Sandy and Mr. Carl . This support has helped made all the finalists feel like champions! Unfortunately with some teams losing, they were devastated but thank you to the library team and teachers who helped comfort them. EMS Doha Library Weekly Update: March 1, 2018

Chat  Bubble Ms. Mareena will be a part of the Libraries Chat Bubble feature next week Sunday and Monday, but the focus will be on YEAR 9 students only . Please encourage Year 9 students to attend as Ms. Mareena will share how they could get involved in the above advertised speech competition, allowing them to discuss a topic of their choice.   The competition will be held on   Wednesday, March 28th . Selected students will have transportation provided from school.    -Ms Mareena Chromebook Orientation Next week , Ms. Mareena and Mr. Dean will be doing the chromebook orientation organised by Ms. Mareena. I have sent out an email to all english teachers to fill in their name and class details in the available time  slots they would like to attend next week.
